Constitution For Effective School Governance

Title
Constitution For Effective School Governance
Abstract/Description
This week, the Green and Write blog welcomes guest author Kenneth Frank, professor in Measurement and Quantitative Methods at the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Special Education at Michigan State University. In the coming months and years, there will likely be a high level of reform activity in schools related to the implementation of new curricular standards such as the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Here, Dr. Frank considers an alternative model of school governance based on a Constitutional system of checks and balances, similar to that which governs our federal government system. In creating this document, Dr. Frank applies key concepts from his own research and others on the impact of teacher interactions for the diffusion of new policy beliefs and practices within schools.
