Title
Organising Schools for Teacher and Leader Learning
Abstract/Description
This chapter focuses on how schools are organised as workplaces for adult learning, both the learning of teachers and school leaders. This focus is set within a view that schools should cultivate students’ identities as capable mathematicians, which demands that teachers create classroom environments where students’ sensemaking is a major focal point. Our goal leads us to pay attention to the learning structures that are available in the school and how they are coordinated with one another to enable teacher and leader learning. We review literature about the work of instructional leadership in building coherent learning systems within schools and use the case of one Research-Practice Partnership to illustrate how this might be possible.
